Asian American, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander Student Achievement Program
Launched in Fall 2024, the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Student Achievement Program (ASAP) at Sonoma State University supports AANHPI students from recruitment to graduation.
ASAP helps students:
Build community and belonging at SSU
Access academic and personal support
Connect classroom learning to real-world change
Through Asian American Studies courses, students explore AANHPI histories, identities, and movements for justice. Co-curricular events and partnerships with local organizers, artists, and activists help students link their education to community impact.
Students also enjoy opportunities to connect with peers, faculty, and staff through:
Social and cultural events
Mentorship programs
Academic conferences
ASAP is part of the California State University AANHPI Student Achievement Program (CSU ASAP), established by California Education Code Section 89297.1 (2022).
How Do I Join ASAP?
Membership in ASAP is determined each semester based on your participation.
To be an active member, you can:
Attend at least two ASAP events during the semester, or
Enroll in an Asian American Studies course and attend one ASAP event in the same semester.
ASAP events are shared on social media and through our AANHPI listserv — keep an eye out for upcoming opportunities to connect!
We welcome you to stop by our events to learn more or reach out directly with your questions:
